The Best Sources for Neutral Accent Chairs

First off, thanks for reading through my last blog post on New Beginnings.  It can be a little scary to put yourself out there in such a personal way, but I'm striving to be more transparent on the blog.  As soon as I'm done here, I'm off to get my workout in!

With that said, something I've been wanting to do for a loooooonnnnnnggggg time is kind of a weekly Life Talk series like yesterday that is basically video with snippets of, well, "Life Talk"!  

Honestly, I feel like I've put this off for quite sometime because I don't ever want to come across as a "know it all" or "oh so wise".  I just want to help people who may be going through some things I've experienced or people I've worked with one-on-one in the "Life Coaching" space, and share my thoughts and ideas.  I'm not perfect!  

The first one is set to go live within the next few weeks and full blown once the kids start school in the Fall. I can't wait!!!

Ok, so moving onto to today's topic - CHAIRS!  I love me a good tufted or slipcovered comfy chair! And a neutral one at that. We live in them here at our beach house.

After years of researching and decorating, I've learned a thing or two about where to find the best to get that coastal modern farmhouse kind of style I love so much and live by. ;-)

They move around often in our home (the advantage of accent chairs), but here you can see my favorite chair ever front and center when I did a whitewash makeover on our fireplace stone. We've had these comfy tufted chairs for about 4+ years and they are literally timeless - I can still snuggle with a kiddo to read a book together. :-)

Many of you that follow along on Instagram, have asked frequently about the chairs over time, so I hope this roundup of sources helps speed up your search for that perfect neutral chair.  I personally lean toward either tufted or slipcovered (and more toward slipcovers since moving to the beach house).  There are a few "splurges" listed below, but most of the chairs are under $400.

When trying to decide what chair to go with for your home, the #1 most important factor is the measurements! Always make sure to measure your space and consider doorway openings.  Most chairs arrive with the legs detached so that helps, but still be aware of that.

Other than that, it is a personal preference for exact color, fabric, and details like tufting, skirting, the color of the legs, nailhead trim, etc.

Where To Find Coral For Home Decor

Cheers to the holiday weekend friends!  We're in full swing here with today being the opening day for crabbing (#heyhey), and our new outdoor sectional is scheduled to arrive tomorrow!! Yippee! (still time to get 15% off with code 4thofJuly!)

So onto today's topic - CORAL for decoration!

As I've grown older, I abandoned the thought of "collecting things".  We purge frequently and try to live light.  I give away a lot of the items I buy for style blogging, but coral you guys.   I've developed a bit of a love for these beautiful coastal treasures.

Whether you prefer natural coral or don't mind a resin/faux version, here are a few place to find coral to add to your own home decor.

 

Local Boutiques

Depending on where you live, you can find the most beautiful natural coral at local boutiques, antique shops, etc.  I live in the Seattle area and have hopped the local islands on "treasure hunts" and "day trips" only to find a beautiful piece or two to add to my growing collection. 

 

 

 

ETSY

 

Because etsy is made up of so many small business owners, it's a great resource for finding natural coral for your home.  Below are just a few pieces I found while browsing around!

One Kings Lane has always been one of those design resources that screams "authentic, beautiful, timeless, and quality".  I love that they have a vintage section to their site and one of a kind items including natural coral.  Here is just a sampling of coral items I found on One Kings Lane.

A final place I'd recommend if you're simply going for "the look" is to check out a variety of options from online retailers.  I know I personally love the convenience of finding what I'm looking for and having it shipped to my front doorstep, often times for free. Chic Bedroom with Coral and Navy colors

Hello friends! We've finally kicked off our summer vacation here on the McConnell homefront, and couldn't be more excited!  Between beach combing, BBQs, and a road trip planned to Yellowstone, we are happy and thankful for this time we get to spend as a family.

 

Surprisely, this may give me more time to blog and share design, fashion, etc. since I am no longer commuting during the school day.   A BIG thank you to those of you that follow along and find a snippet or two of something to try yourself, add to your home or wardrobe, or even gain a little more balance through things like my free Make It Happen Challenge >>>> working on exciting updates right now! You can count on many of my designs incorporating navy somewhere.  Mixed with warm colors tones like coral and gold balance each other well.

The "waves" of the navy and grey rug remind me of a gentle, calm sea.  The classic wingback bed in a linen fabric can be dressed up with any accent colors or patterns and is an overall great pick for anyone.  How beautiful is that coral and cream pineapple pillow?!  Love at first site for me!
