You're Invited! New Facebook LIVE Book Group: Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst (no pun intended) ;-)

RelationshipsAnneke McConnell

Hey there friends!  Honest talk - It's been a juggling act over here as I've taken some time away to brainstorm some ideas for the upcoming months.

One thing that's been on my radar and "wish list" is to start connecting with you on Facebook LIVE.  It's unlike anything else to be able to answer your questions and interact with you in real time, and I miss doing this since stepping away from Periscope!

You can find me HERE!

I recently hopped on LIVE to paint a console table and even share my positive and negative experiences with lash extensions after sharing about my reaction on Instagram.

This is where I will be spending more time and branching out into various topics.

I love having fun with painting projects and sharing beauty or style tips and more, but I also love diving into tougher topics we may be struggling with as women like motivation, goal setting, faith, perfectionism, etc.

With that said, we're going to start going through the book Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst, and I'm officially inviting you to join! Ironic I know, but I'm excited!

I strive to live by the mantra that we are Better Together and I pray that this new direction will help us to connect better and create a strong, supportive, encouraging, and FUN community!

Thank for joining!

Fashion Friday: 76 of The Best Scarves for Fall plus 3 Tips to find the right one for YOU!

Fashion Blog PostsAnneke McConnell

Happy Fashion Friday you guys!  Earlier this week on Instagram I had a candid confession about my struggle with style blogging at times amidst those things that matter so much more - many of you were so encouraging and I thank you for that.  It's a fine line, and I hope my hear for people always shows brighter than my love of piecing things together.

It's why my style motto is "Dress for the Occasion". Ours lives are made up of so many facets from working out, to home projects, lounging around, date nights with our husband, or a girl's night out.

With that said, I decided to pull together some resources for you if you're looking for a cute new scarf for this Fall and Winter.  There are a few things to keep in mind when finding the perfect fit:

  1. Determine the Shape: Are you more comfortable in a long oblong rectangular scarf or a big square blanket scarf?  As a petite person, I tried a square one and it completely overwhelmed my frame.  The oblong scarves really allow me to create several looks including long vertical lines to add "height."
  2. Determine the Weight: Are you looking for that war cozy blanket scarf that you'd take off once inside, or a lighter, thinner material that keeps you warm and you can keep on all day. Maybe this is a PNW thing? I'm not sure. Lol
  3. Determine Pattern or Color: What colors do you wear most often?  How about patterns?  I'd suggest going for a scarf or scarves that is within a color scheme you wear often so it goes with multiple outfits.  Also, if you tend to wear patterns, go with a solid colored scarf,. Likewise, if you tend to wear solids, go with some scarves with patterns like classic plaid, stripes, a cheetah print, or even a floral with muted colors, etc.

I find that I personally gravitate toward lightweight striped scarves in the spring and summer and plaid scarves in the fall and winter.  To each their own!

Below are just a handful of recommendations to get you started, but ASOS is probably my favorite place so far to find a large variety of scarves where I love ALL of them! Groopdealz is also having a HUGE discount right now on 36 styles of blanket scarves! #score

Have a great weekend!

Bordeaux Drape Front Jacket for Fall

All smiles here today as the kids headed off to school this week and we're getting back into a good routine! The weather is turning crisp here in the Seattle area and I'm turning toward beautiful fall colors like bordeaux, olive green, burnt orange, etc.

These drape front style jackets are flattering on most people since they have nice angles to them and don't require buttoning or zipping.

In this outfit, I paired the leather jacket with my go-to tunic and neutral fall ankle booties from the Nsale.  This definitely makes me feel chic and put together, but still able to run around as a mama of three!

Where to Find Unique Traditional Rugs such as Kilim and Balouch Rugs

Coastal Interiors, Edesign, Home Blog Posts, InteriorsAnneke McConnell

With a little home updating in the works for our living room and entryway, I've been browsing around for the perfect rug (this one is a major contender!).   As much as I love my coastal striped rugs and natural sisal or jute rugs, I have an absolute LOVE for a unique traditional rug - my favorite is a balouch (or baluch) rug, like this one in our kitchen.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that when I was growing up I did not appreciate the beauty of these rugs.  Thankfully since then, I've found my way.  They are truly a work of art and add a ton of character and personality to a room!

If you're looking for the perfect traditional rug for your home with a bit of a boho, coastal, Pacific Northwest kind of vibe, one of the following may be a good option for you.  Remember you can always search for the specific size you need and the type of rug (such as balouch, kilim, heriz, serapi, etc.)

It never hurts to check eBay, your local craigslist, or etsy for the occasional unique find, but below I've listed some rugs I love from places that you will find unique, one of a kind rugs consistently.
